Fathom Architecture developed Latent Growth in response to a community-driven initiative to activate the Belltown neighborhood in Seattle.
BATTERY STREET FARM: Horticulturalists develop soil profiles favorable to regional crop performance which are layered above the Battery Street Tunnel once the surface streets are removed. This enables local growers, restaurateurs, and residents to utilize this urban space for organic farming within the community.
MARKET-FARM CONNECTOR: The utilitarian alleyways are transformed into commercial and pedestrian connectors and feature temporary and permanent art.
BELL STREET MARKET: Commercial blocks feature food by local restaurateurs, fresh ingredients from local growers, and pop-ups by local businesses. Regrade Park is re-conceptualized as a multipurpose recreation and activity hub where food trucks can park and residents can eat, play, and connect.
