Fathom Architecture responded to a call for ideas through AIA Portland for proposals to inhabit the unused land above Interstate 405.
ECOTONE takes a vehicular thruway and repositions it as a pedestrian destination. Currently dominated by motorists, ECOTONE targets local programmatic deficiencies and deploys a framework for community resources, public amenities, and multi-modal pathways.
ECOTONE is as much energy infrastructure as it is landscape. Already strategically situated between two streetcar systems, ECOTONE connects the Pearl District with the NW Alphabet neighborhood.
